hi Guys, any body installed a  6kw -8kw ASHP on a a brick wall ? I have a lack of space at ground level ( and a leaf problem) so i'm looking to wall mount a unit.

I understand this is "not" recommended due in part to vibration / noise.

I have an existing A2A unit for air con which you can only just hear in the room with the wall. I'm guessing the ASHP will be the same when running normally but the defrost cycle and or hot water cycle may be more obtrusive ?

any thoughts / experiences ?

rob

Our 7kW Vaillant is wall mounted, no problem neat installation, noise minimal. It’s on the Vaillant recommended brackets. It’s not absolutely simple in our case since the wall in question is externally insulated so you have to use the right brackets.

It’s on the workshop wall away from the lounge but can barely be heard in either the workshop or the adjacent utility room room.

2kW + Growatt & 4kW +Sunnyboy PV on south-facing roof Solar thermal. 9.5kWh Givenergy battery with AC3. MVHR. Vaillant 7kW ASHP (very pleased with SCOP 4.7) open system operating on WC

@rob-heatpump-bob, if you have no option, then go ahead with wall-mounting, and it just involves a detailed conversation with your installer to take all steps to mitigate vibrations. Dramas usually occur when no provision has been made to fit anti-vibration mounts and 'absorbers'. Once you've had a chat with your installer, let us know what he says and we can advise you accordingly.
