I appreciate that EnergyPlus is Valliant's first attempt at some sort of heat pump Smart Control but, sadly, it is lacking in many key areas - not least, the ability to enter a time-of-use tariff and to include battery storage as well as PV solar.

I also worry about AI interactions if a homeowner has, say, a Powerwall and is on an Octopus tariff such as Intelligent Flux or Cosy. I am not sure how all these integrations will work together.

Thoughts?

For some odd reason I cannot even register for that.

The Q&A makes very clear that it is a dedicated energy management system and no other system can be used alongside it.

I am more interested to find more about the EEBUS and whether Vaillant will migrate more of the comms to modbus (now used between the pump and the heatpump interface) and things like integration to smart home ecosystems (that I can see they are starting to do from their cloud). More from a geek´s perspective than expecting any critical advantage. As I am expecting to focus heat curve-based operation..

How can they stop anybody from signing up to a heat pump tariff. Powerwall owners also have AI-optimised solar and battery import and export.

For all my solar is exported at 12p /kWh. This confuses Energyplus that just looks at predicted solar output.

I meant to say I cannot register my kit at Energyplus…

Solis also has AI, I tried it six months ago but it was overkill for my needs. It does read the tariffs, etc.

To be honest, I cannot see why ML would be needed for a heat pump.

But probably worth for an inverter, at least once it starts handling variable loads..
