I've also got an 8kw Daikin, in the last week I've noticed it oscillating between 350-600W at quite a high frequency for longer periods.

Is there some explanation for why it might be ramping up and down every minute?

daikin em 1
daikin em 2
daikin em 3

@treewizard is this not the electrical pulse that keeps the compressor warm? most of these top end builds use around 1kW per day in the winter to either power a heater tape wrapped around the compressor or send a current to the windings that does not move the motor but keeps it warm and I would imagine Daikin does one of these? (I not an expert on Daikin ASHP)

@ashp-bobba That would explain it thank you, I'll take a look at the manual.  If not, I'll ask Daikin at the next service.

Just a suggestion but upload your images to an AI agent such as Grok with a full description of your installation and you will get a good description of the symptoms and some suggestions of things to check. I've used this method to dial in my 4KW Daikin when switching to "pure" weather comp.
