APP for remote Daikin ASHP Operation
Hi,
Just wondering is there any app on my phone i can get that will tell me current temperature of house and that i can switch heat pump on remotely with. I have Daikin altherma2 low temp split. I know newer models have built in systems but not sure about my model.
Thanks
@newhouse87 I have changed the title of this thread to specify the make. In most cases the only turnkey app for heat pump remote control that wont also compromise performance is the manufacturers one, unless you have Homely, Havenwise or Adia which I guess you dont otherwise you would not have asked the question.
What's the use case, ie why/when do you want to turn it on and off remotely? For the most part heat pumps should be left to their own devices with the inbuilt weather compensation doing the bulk of the control work. Obviously if you go away for an extended period thats another situation, I think the Daikin, like every other heat pump I know, has a holiday mode on the control panel.

Yeah i run it differently as in all night long on cheap electricity rate and continuing into day time in cold weather so was hoping there might be app that when im at work i can see temperature of the room my programmable stat is in and if below temperature i can turn heat pump on or continue it running longer for few hours before i get home if room not at temperature i want. Currently i have it all ran on timers on the stat which is fine 90% of the time. So if anybody here has the same heatpump and uses app to control it would be great to know. May not exist.

OK so all you actually need is a call for heat on/off, temperature measurement and remote access. Thus not necessarily a heat pump or even a heating device although any remote accessible smart 'thermostat' (used as an on off switch only) would do.
I can't immediately think of the ideal low cosr piece of kit, hopefully someone will come up with the daikin answer.

Just to clarify, @newhouse87, what is your setup at home? When you're at home, are you just using the temperature sensor(s) and controls supplied with the heat pump? I'm guessing you haven't got the heat pump wired into anything else.

@majordennisbloodnok yes im running the whole house off 1 stat, i time it to come on at night rate and go off again at 8am. Have it balanced at manifold so all rooms get desired heat, its just in real cold i need to run it longer so i would like to be able to monitor it more and be able to see what stat is reading and program it remotely turn on if needed. The stat in my sitting room is the only stat that i use to call for the heat pump.
Thanks, @newhouse87. Understood.
I was only asking on the offchance that you might have it linked in with something else that might potentially be used remotely. Doesn't sound like it.
