2 x Mitsubishi Zubadan 14kW ASHPs in 400sqm house
Hi Everyone
I'm Alan and new to the forum.
I live with my wife in largish detached house in the Chilterns ( 400m2 ). House mixture of old solid walls ( 15% ) and modern cavity insulated. Around 200mm in the lofts. Double Glazed throughout.
We have
2 x Mitsu Zubadan 14Kw ASHPs controlled by an Ice Energy bastardisation of 2 FTC2s in their own bespoke step controller set up.
100l buffer tank in loft.
300l pressure tank in airing cupboard MacDonald Engineers.
Installed in 2011.
GF mostly UFH 4 zones controlled by a heat miser set up.
FF rads controlled by TRVs and a conventional programmable thermostat.
Looking to add PV plus battery this year and to find any way I can to cut our consumption.
Current predicted annual total elec usage is around 40000 Kwh !! No idea what usage is for the heat pumps alone.
Outdoor pool heated for 3 months a year by a 12kw Calorex ASHP. Pool highly insulated sides and bottom. Thermal cover on top.Works very well for June July Aug.
Ice Energy were poorly run company it seems and disappeared around 7 years ago from memory.
So, I'm struggling with my settings on the controller, to get the best our of the system.
Have upgraded all the external pipework insulation to Armorflex.
Any suggestion grateful received.
Cheers
Alan

My suggestion is to fit aShelly EM unit on your system as I have done and you can see exactly what is used by what. I have one clamp measuring the entire house usage and another specific to the ASHP.

@greekgoddj Thanks for your reply.
Had a quick look at the guide on line. So, do I mount the Shelly EM near to the heat pumps and put a clamp around the cable leading to each heat pump?
Does each clamp have to be wired to the main EM unit?
Any help you can give gratefully received.
Thank you
Alan
Hi @alanb
The clamps go around the live electric feed in your fuse box that feeds the ASHP.
I used this video as a guide
Obviously take great care when doing anything electrical!
