16 KW Samsung EHS TDM
My System is a 16 kw Samsung EHS TDM. The house is a timber frame construction, built in 2015. Approx. 230m2 with a conservatory. The difference is between the Monoblock, that most of you have that my outdoor unit has no heat exchanger inside. The hot refrigerant comes in the house in to a hydrobox indoor unit. This has the heat exchanger. Just before the hydrobox there is a y pipe connection for the refrigerant to make its way in to a motorised control box. This is connected to 3 air to air aircon unit. Two in my attic one in my conservatory (one would have been enough). The hydro box is connected to my 250 litter horizontal tank (for space issues, but stay away as much as possible from horizontal tanks!) Low loss header, UHF downstairs, radiators upstairs. Coming from a colder country I think everything got oversized a little bit, like the UHF as it was done with 20 mm pipes like it is standard in Hungary. The distribution of the water are done with 2 Wilo pumps, no valves, 2 thermostats, one upstairs one downstairs controlling the pumps and the heat pump. My weather comp. (water law) is set to 40c@-10 25c @15 then on the controlee I changed it to -4.
I have tried what people suggested running it at 24/7,4 so I set the wheatear comp lower then 25 Celsius but this system never cycles off so what I see is the inverter makes the machine run as low as possible about 900 to a 1000 watt consumption of electricity, but with all UHF and radiator on the ASHP just produces more heat then the lower flow temp would need, so attchualy the flow temp just rising by the end of the day it goes to at least 27c (even thought it should be like 24c) if the underfloor shuts off then it rises, (even @5 degrees outside) to about 36c as there is a lot less water circulating in the system. Now I know now running it at 24/7 would mean at least 24 kw usage/day. I changed the thermostat setting so it is set to 21c downstairs, 20 upstairs. Starts at 7 am set to run till 10pm but by about 7 pm thermostat shuts it off as it reached the 21c. Downstairs heats up first then upstairs by no later then 8pm. In the morning downstairs the temp is still about 19.8c when it kicks in at 7 am. Upstairs a little bit cooler around 18.5c.
I do my own maintenance. I have never had any problem with the heating system, very happy with it. We used a German make Rehau system for the plumbing. By the way we bought everything in Hungary as it was still part of the EU. After getting back the VAT as it was a self build, the entire system cost was around £5000. As I understand we could not get RHI as my brother was not registered installer here plus the system is able to cool too.) Sorry if something doesn't make sense feel free to ask.

@andris, very interesting, thanks for the explanation. It's good that you were able to get your system at such a good price.
I wonder why the ASHP doesn't stop when the weather compensation flow temp is reached? On my ASHP, as well as the weather compensation, there is a minimum and maximum for the flow temp, which would override the weather compensation. The default for the minimum was 30C and when I lowered my weather compensation I had to adjust this to 20C.
Do you use the air units for cooling? Not that you'd need them much!
@kev-m Thank you for your message!
I almost never use them them for cooling. I was expecting a bit hoter summers. 🤣. Maybe when global warming gets worse. The conservatory gets a bit hot, but with opening doors and windows; it gets to a comfy temp.
The conservatory would never get to temp without the help from the split unit. It is double glazed, but the wall is only 60cm earthling; else is glass, including the roof. On the roof, we used clacius glass similar to cars' sun roofs. So it doesn't get too hot in the summer.

<span;>Ok, I changed the defalut setting to 25c, then lowered the weather compensation to 22@15 left the other setting 40@-10 and the adjustable bit to -5c. So it is 7 degrees outside. it should have been around 23c flow temp, but it is 27c. The underfloor switched off and went up to 34c. Are there any more suggestions? 🤔

Are these temperatures being measured by you or the ASHP? I have a screen where I can see what the various thermistors are reading.
Have you tried running at a constant flow of 23 degrees just to see if it will do it? It sounds like you are managing to heat the house at very low flow temps, which is good.
@kev-m Yes, the ASHP shows the flow temp. I had never before had it at a constant temperature. I am guessing I would need to turn off the thermostats and come of water law?

Yes I think you would. I'm not familiar with your ASHP but I think @derek-m may know how to do it? Or he may have some other advice.

Hi Andris,
Please provide details of your outdoor unit, indoor unit and controller and I will see what may be possible.
@derek-m Hi Derek. Thanks for the message.

Hi Andris,
You could try making the following changes.
Go into Field Setting Mode and change the following parameters.
Code 1032 change to 15C
Code 2011 change to -20C
Code 2022 change to 17C
Code 2031 change to 40C
Code 2032 change to 17C
