Homely asking about Solar Panels.
I had an email from Homely today requesting answers to 2 questions: Do I have solar panels (or am I thinking of getting any) and the second question: Do you have a battery or are you planning to add one?
I assume this is a prelude to considering if it is worth their developing the app further to encompass renewable generation facilities in some way. Regards, Toodles.

Although I'm somewhat surprised it has taken this long, this is potentially a bit of positive movement. I am strongly of the opinion that optimising the bejeezus out of one bit of renewables kit and ignoring all the others is nowhere near as cost-effective as even some more modest optimisation across all the renewables kit installed in a property. I am also amazed that, that being so, there is no plug and play(ish) solution to do this, leaving it to home owners to resort to full-on home automation systems to achieve this.
If Homely really are considering branching out to cover solar PV and battery (and, potentially, EV charging) as part of their home management service then this could be quite a compelling proposition. For my money they'd still have to change their attitude towards customers being able to see their own data before I could consider actually recommending them but even so it's an interesting space to watch.
