Everything I can find online about this installer suggests a reputable company who are busy recruiting to fulfill their growing order book.

@transparent I believe they are reputable but just busy fitting pumps the cheapest and fastest way possible. The fitters are on job rate so the more they can do the better they get paid so they are fitting them quickly and shooting off. I've explained that they need to do better with regards to paperwork and set up of the system or education of the end user to set up the system. It's not practical for them to hang around for a few days to let it all settle and tweak WC but if they showed the customer more info than "control it with the room stats" that would help. The system is left on default settings with no WC turned on and no legionella (I do this manually once a month rather than set it up weekly). I'm not unhappy with the system, it's just not good enough to fit it and run. Most customers won't go to the lengths I have and will just run it on room stats then complain it's too expensive.
COP of 4.14 today but the house is sitting a bit cooler at 17.5. No solar gain whatsoever today though, wet and windy all day.

Your system works, I’d leave it at that as it is still under warranty. All anyone needs to do is buy a PWM pump and follow the instructions in the Midsummer Wholesale Samsung installation guide….

I'm watching this from a distance as I can't really contribute. What puzzles me is what is making it switch on after only 20 seconds off? The 8 minutes on I can understand if the flow is being heated and it reaches its target then switches off. But after 20 seconds off the flow isn't going to have time to cool down let alone the ASHP react via the flow sensors.
My thoughts are that I'm running it too low as I don't want much heat out of it. When it's mild like it is it's stalling. Maybe. I don't really understand how they work. 🙈

The only real way to possibly discover what is causing the problem is to check how each item of equipment is functioning, disregard the ones that are working correctly, until you discover the one that is not working correctly.
Correct me if I am wrong, but does the Ecodan have a setting that specifies how long the compressor has to remain off before it can be restarted?

I don't think it does; I think it does a similar thing by looking at flow temp rather than time. I say 'think' because that table's title suggests it applies to room temp mode? I don't think that's right though.
There is mention of pump cycles/interval in the smart grid ready section but I'm not sure if that can be set without having smart grid functionality actually running properly. (page 42 in my FTC6 manual)
@derek-m I don't have an Ecodan but you may be talking about something else.
When you say "indoor temperature" do you mean the measurement on the wired remote on the tank or the one on the room stats?
Room stats are still the same at around 18 and indoor temp on "heat" screen on wired remote is still the same at around 21-22.
Both pumps are vibrating so assume they are running.
