Vaillant & OVO partner up to offer Heat Pump Plus
@johnmo not how far this goes to answer your question but… in the EV tariff they can turn on & off your EV charger.

Slippery slope starting
Posted by: @AnonymousPosted by: @ecodan-efficiencyPosted by: @toodles@ecodan-efficiency Octopus Energy offer ‘Cosy’ for heat pump owners. You supply them with your MCS registration to qualify. Regards, Toodles.
I guess what I mean is are OVO the only ones collecting ASHP energy use data and using it to bill against?
And will they be the first to use the smart grid switch that most current heat pumps have, to switch the ASHP off when it suits them and the grid demands?
If they are directly collecting data from the heat pump, are you sure the data stream isn't two way?
They don't at the moment at least. They just pull data from some API that has been given to them by, in this case, Mitsubishi once a month. It doesn't sound terribly sophisticated. Given the numbers on the tariff it could even just be an emailed spreadsheet!
Who knows what the future will bring, but given Mitsubishi's cloud software is so basic and never seems to get updated (although at least it works) I can't see it happening any time soon!
@ecodan-efficiency On the other hand, the fact that the Mitsubishi cloud software is "stable" could be a benefit in that Ovo will not be constantly changing whatever interface they have. My concern is that I hear that the data provided by Mel-Cloud is not fully accurate so that would presumably affect the accuracy of the billing.
