Hi everyone,

We will be starting a new self build early next year and would welcome some advise.

It will be a timber frame with hemp-lime 400mm insulation, triple glazed windows and our aim is to be near Passivhaus standards without the certification.

Dealing with DNO currently, have had quotes for both single and 3 phase supplies.

We will need new post and transformer at either 3phase 100kVA at £25k or 1 phase 25kVA at £16k.

Both quotes are eye watering. I've explored other avenues eg. ICP's but they are not interested as it's a relatively small project.

Requirements are;

10kw ASHP.

12Kwh Battery storage.

10.7kw solar panels, and in time, EV fast charger. There will also be a small workshop (hobby).

Electric is our only source of power and I want to export back to the grid. We have been told 16amps per phase.

Wish to future proof but at the same time do not want to over spec.

Any more information needed, please ask.

I have no experience in this so any advise will be much appreciated.

£16K (or even £25K!) would go a fair way towards employing more solar panels and battery capacity if you have the space and stay off-grid - just a thought! Regards, Toodles.
