@toodles I am on flux. If this helps, I get an average of 21p back on every kw export. What is the average on agile?

@andris I get 15p pkW/h fixed; I had been on Agile Export and found in July that the rate had dropped substantially and was considerably lower than 15p. I may go back to Fixed later in the seasons but, suspect that there will be very few surplus kW/h per day once the heat pump is working for the colder months so possibly not worth swapping from Fixed after all. I gather Export can be advantageous with Flux but is the overall ‘import’ deal as good at the higher (fixed) rates applied to Flux? Questions - Questions … Regards, Toodles.

@toodles I am definitely changing tariff as soon as I am making less then I need, to Octopus go. As 9p sounds amazing. Thankfully our house with the underfloor heating only needs heated once a day during the cheep tariff, even if I need to carnk up the flow temp a bit and heat the hot water tank up to 60c with the emmersion heater, which is enought for most of the day. Any extra power gets diverted back to hot water tank.

@andris My (Agile) import at present goes as high as 19 p. PkW/h at times - then there are a few hours where it is in the 14-15 p. Range; that is when I charge the ‘batteries’ for electricity and hot water. (I don’t actually heat water directly, the Sunamp tank heats some PCM in readiness for my DHW demand). Regards, Toodles.

For clarity, I should add that the Agile rate could go as high as £1.00p. per kW/h but I tend to use the late night and early hours for economy when the previously mentioned rates tend to apply. I still look out for the ‘Plunge Pricing’ as this can be very beneficial to the energy bill! Regards, Toodles.

@toodles Hey, now on Octopus Go. My average outgoing tarriff dropped to 16p/kw. They came up with a new export tariff for called light. It gives me 8p/kw. As go costumers were only allowed the 4p guaranteed export tariff before. My export was only 27kw anyways so not a big deal.

I have checked and OE confirmed that the likes of Intelligent Octopus Flux are not open to me as I do not have an EV and suggested that Agile is still my best option. Not many low price half hours about at the moment though :-((( Regards, Toodles.

@toodles Hi, I am on Octopus Cosy Tariff which gives me 6 hours at 16.36p kWh (the normal rate is 27.26p per hour and there is a 3 hour high rate of 43.62p) i Charge my batteries up both times so from 0400 - 0700 and then again at 1300 - 1600, the highrate is 1600 -1900 and my battery covers that easily. I got the tariff as I have A2A heating but no EV the aircon has me using around 40kWh per day on total house electric which is what I expected for what is a completely All electric house with 2 teenagers that just sit in their room with it on full blast all night long !
@boblochinver Choosing which tariff is tricky right now;-) I have found that until the last month or two, Agile has been considerably lower than other tariffs. I have seen an average of 8p per kW/h for my lowest hourly rates usage but of late, getting many half hours below approx 18 pence has been tricky. We have had a few ‘plunges’ here and there though. Just be a good chap and go and have a word with that Putin chappie will you? ;-))) Just looking at the last week using Octopus Compare, I have used 188.47 kW/h and Agile cost me £36.54 but Cosy would have been £52.24. I suspect though this is a useful guideline, for a true picture, I would have to do all my ‘downloading to DHW and battery charging at the Cosy time slots as I think the Compare comparison is based on consumption at the same times. I see that if I had only used the lowest Cosy rate, my cost would have been £30.83 so possibly worth a swap! I could charge my Powerwalls and Sunamp Thermino during those 2 periods and then go ‘off-grid’ for the other 18 hours a day! Any observations welcomed please! Regards, Toodles.

I remember reading a newspaper article some time ago that stated that Ofgem was making changes to the wholesale electricity pricing arrangement to try to prevent some of the generating companies from manipulating the market to their benefit.
I can't remember if the new arrangement was to come into effect in October or November, but the expected net effect was to smooth out the pricing throughout the day.
@derek-m Perhaps this announcement and the consequent ‘consequences’ will be worth waiting on then? Regards, Toodles.
