I've just had my ASHP serviced - quite tricky out here in West Wales. The installers CES didn't want to know and aren't taking on any new customers - I guess they're victims of their own success - too many installs!

Anyway, Green Warmth came out and did a very good service.

However, the next day, and probably or not totally sure it was their fault - the ASHP is now playing up.

The CH pump is ON continuously. If I boost the HW and cause the heat pump to operate, it stops the CH pump.

But as soon as the HW reaches the target it goes back to running non stop.

I had a go at firing up the thermostats to run the CH but nothing changed - pump runs but it does not fire up the ASHP.

I know I've had the CH off all Summer but we have kept the HW going.

I've got one of their engineers coming out this afternoon - if it's not their fault, it's going to cost but I'd like to get it sorted before the winter. Last year it was brilliant - greatly reduced costs and a warm house. I'm a physicist and have a good idea of how it all works - I set up the "WaterLaw" and as I say, it all worked a treat. I'm very frustrated that I can't work out what it's doing . . . .grr.

Any ideas?

When I had my previous gas boiler serviced it was quite common for the serviceman to 'reset' some of the settings, in particular the flow temperature. Hopefully its not that but it might just be worth checking.

Water law settings would be the first place to look. To be honest I really wouldn't expect a serviceman to reset such things, but then neither would I have expected a gas boiler serviceman to do so!

Is it heating or is it just that the water pump is running?

@jamespa it's a bit odd. The CH pump is running. All the time. I tried to run the CH by switching on both the two zone thermostats but nothing happened apart from the pump carrying on running. The HW side still works OK and even more oddly, when that side is running it shuts down the CH pump whilst its heating up. Maybe a valve stuck think??

There is s test mode in the Samsung menu where you can turn the pump on and off manually. Could it be they left that on?

Have you got more than one pump or only one? If more than one which one is running? Have you got a buffer? What happens if you turn the zone thermostats down to minimum? This might not be the heat pump! Try also @bontwoody s suggestion.

Yes, two pumps - one for running the heat pump and the other for the CH. Thermostats are off!

@jamespa just the CH one and no nothing is heating. When I put the demand in for hotter water - it shut down the CH pump plus some whirring of valves - not sure which. But as soon as the HW demand was met, it went back to the continuous running. It was odd that I couldn't run the CH system. Maybe too warm outside? We'll see
