Is Traditional Radiator Balancing Tosh?
Posted by: @bashShe is however an accountant, so has already seen the financial benefits of the investment, has appreciated the much warmer house and has now come round to my thinking that it will be worth it in the long run!
A bit of a leap of faith, then? Some accountants can get very excited about each and every section of pipe will deliver a return. It helps to have that broad interest in the overall warmth of the house, difficult to put a figure on it! 😉
I still have not seen much interest in the fact our overall energy bill is below 30 a month, no PV, nor fancy technology... And we also run an EV on it.🙂

@bash Fwiw, we have 2 x K2 rads, 600 x 800, in two rooms; each on their own 15mm runs that are T'd off the 20mm 'main lines' going around the landing.
A complete 1st floor re-pipe was in our plan (with in-concrete UFH circuits throughout the GF), after an entire house rip-out of the push-fit 10mm u-bore; albeit some 10mm pipework was left behind GF dry-lined walls.
Living onboard required a lot of careful planning for the upheaval over several weeks; through Mar/ Apr. Even with occasional set-backs (no pun intended) we're very happy with results so far from the ASHP heating system, (also the PV & Battery installed in early Jan)
Fortunately there's only two people to consider, and 'the boss', also an accountant (rtd), has been engaged fully with the programme since prior to the property being bought. She is now all over the Apps and keeps me updated with the stats.

Posted by: @jamespa15mm is good for about 3kW at DT5. Larger rooms in a typical 5-8kW house will need 1kW+ each but not smaller rooms. This is just being lazy at the expense of more disruption to the householder
Just looked it up and 3Kw on ASHP must be a concept type of rad!
I was getting worried with the 4 rads, but now can see the heat loss estimate at -2C outside is around 1.5kW. Low disrupt anytime..
