We got on a sidetrack elsewhere but best to create it here.

As far as I am concerned, not having all eggs in one basket is a good thing if possible, for such a big prize.

So a big push forward is happening in the north of England, @transparent shared it

Apologies in advance if some are not easily able to get involved in the one below...

I am not sure why, but some of this keeps being pushed my way, so here it goes something about the nuclear fusion plant being built in south France

From the time I was a physics undergraduate it’s been 25 years off. I’ve now retired and it’s still 25 years off.

So it’s had a lot of investment thrown at it over the last few years, starting with public funded research but recently with private money hoping to make a killing.

Research great, necessary to find out what is possible but I suspect it’ll be 25 years off for many years yet.

2kW + Growatt & 4kW +Sunnyboy PV on south-facing roof Solar thermal. 9.5kWh Givenergy battery with AC3. MVHR. Vaillant 7kW ASHP (very pleased with it) open system operating on WC

Ai used to be the same. But then it started delivery of real cases 5-7 years ago and it accelerated massively.

Hopefully that will help solve the fusion technical issues in the next few years..

I dont think that fusion which is as flaky as current AI would satisfy safety requirements!

4kW peak of solar PV since 2011; EV and a 1930s house which has been partially renovated to improve its efficiency. 7kW Vaillant heat pump.

I am thinking of the case where AI was able to distinguish men from women based on retina scans a few years ago. Before science could explain it.

There are also self driving cars..
