Just found this report:

Founder and some trustees of this organisation look like the usual suspects of global warming denial, but their academic advisory council looks reasonable.

It makes for some interesting reading rebutting some rebuttals about the "myths" of heat pump technology.

Gosh that is putting it mildly. The Tufton Street climate denial group founded by Nigel Lawson is ground zero for the right wing pressure groups rubbishing climate change and championing fossil fuels. This must taint any publication that they front.

@abernyte On today’s (Monday 31st. July) BBC Radio Four PM, Evan Davis interviewed a Scottish Lord who had ‘fitted over a thousand heat pumps’ and claimed thy don’t work and that they don’t heat the houses, are less efficient than gas boilers and that it would be better if we used the National Grid to supply electricity to power resistive heaters!!!! Our house become very warm as my blood was close to boiling. Evan tried to reason with him - all to no avail. I wrote to Evan expressing my feelings as follows:

Hello Evan,

Please, please, would you kindly ‘vet’ your speakers before allowing them to cast such doubts and misinform your listeners about the efficiency and power consumption of Heat Pumps; it is nonsense such as he spouted that are confusing many people who haven’t the in-depth knowledge of the subject themselves.
Regards,,,,,

@toodles thanks for the heads up.  Yet more dismal misinformation courtesy of prime time media.

I've found the pod of the show to have a listen.  Greatly appreciated if possible to give a very rough idea of how far into the three hours the interview was.  It will only wind me up like crazy too but I just can't resist it!

Many thanks @toodles

He has consistently challenged the transition approach over the years including the upfront affordability for many people, advocating spending the money on insulation rather than so much on heat pumps, gshp rather than ashp and the challenges of Scottish tenement housing for example.

This is just one example

I haven't listened to this recent interview. I suspect any  nonsense he spouted completely overshadowed any rational points in anything he said.

Successful businessman employing over 9000 people, labour lord, very large charity donor hence his OBE, I met him once.
