Green Homes Grant & RHI
Has anyone gone through the Green Homes Grant and applied for RHI? I ask because my installer is saying that because I have the GHG I cannot apply for RHI. Yet both the GHG & OFGEM websites states this:
"You can claim both the Domestic RHI and the GHG for renewable heat installations. You must claim the GHG first and then notify us the amount of the voucher that you have used when you apply for accreditation to the Domestic RHI. The GHG amount will then be deducted as appropriate from your Domestic RHI payments."
Source: Apply for the Domestic RHI | Ofgem
Source: Green Homes Grant: make energy improvements to your home - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
Now either both websites are wrong or my installer is. If my installer is wrong then they have hundreds or maybe thousands of customers they have advised incorrectly.
I will be making a call to OFGEM to clarify but wanted to hear the view of the community and what they have been advised by installers.

Your installer is wrong. I haven't applied for both but have heard of people who have. Your installer might be trying to put you off RHI because it involves work for them. Or maybe they aren't accredited to MCS and/or the installation won't meet the MCS standards?
@kev-m Thanks for confirming. They are MCS accredited and i checked this one the MCS website that they are certified for ASHP. They are one of the biggest renewable companies in the UK. Yesterday I spoke to a senior manager and they said they "have done training" and you cannot apply for both, then i told them to look on the GHG & OFGEM Websites and their reply was "well you would be the first of our customers to get it so that would be good". Wow huh, they have told thousands of customers the wrong thing. I cant give their name out yet as they are still installing - it taken over a year so far!
@saf1973 they are 100% wrong, I claimed the GHG and the RHI. Its really straightforward, you just declare it when doing the RHI application and they take it off the total RHI you are owed. I had the full £5k and my RHI dropped to £7k
@batalto thanks for the update. Did your installer give you a new EPC? My current EPC pre-dates my Solar install and my DIY updates to the loft insulation so that may impact the heat demand calculation slightly.
I had to get a new EPC for the RHI anyway
