This may be too generic but

I need to change the Thermostatic valve on our shower. Draining our old conventional system was straightforward (maybe it still is ? )

There is an isolator tap in the "cold supply in pipe", if I close this and drain through the shower and bathroom taps will that empty the hot and cold sufficient to disconnect the shower ?

TIA

Samsung 12kw ASHP, nine 415w PV panel array, upgraded radiators and DHW water tank (+ pumps etc). Two wireless zone thermostat controllers and Samsung MWR-WW10N

I’ve never taken a chance when fiddling and changing our shower thermostatic valves, and have always turned off the water supply to the house at the stopcock, and then drained off remaining water.
