Approach is everything in life, and now I use my heating system to mitigate the cold (18c) rather than heat to 21c.

This means my heat pump controller on my 14 year old gas condensing boiler  even puts a bit if heat into my house even though it’s above 18c indoors but colder than that out side 15c

It knows there will be a migration if heat to the cold so it counteracts that with gas burnt at near 100% efficiency

This is a predictive control..it know the house will get colder as the walls will cools down

it takes the edge off the cold, and uses 2kwh of gas once a day.

it always entertains me when I enter big houses with the heating off and you can see your breath…so unnecessary with proven technology!

If only heat pump manufacturers and boiler manufacturers were enthusiastic about the proven technology..
