@sunandair It was Octopus, but to be fair it was in relation to trying to get the process of Heat Pumps out there asap. Commendable from a climate perspective. @davesoa I would certain ask Octopus for a quote if you havent already done so, I have only good things to say about them as a company.
House-2 bed partial stone bungalow, 5kW Samsung Gen 6 ASHP (Self install)
6.9 kWp of PV
5kWh DC coupled battery

@bontwoody yes, I appreciate that but in this fast moving grant fed industry the copycat installer may well just take the headline of a big player and take it literally without any moral obligation to the millions of homeowners who were once keen to get an installation in their older less than ideal home who have since become disillusioned with the intransigent providers. I’m sure this is a big factor in play.
I did ask Octopus for a quote last year and they spent the best part of the day doing the calculations. Sadly they then declined to quote saying they could only handle ‘standard’ installations. My house is a hybrid of different construction periods and didn’t fit their model…then. They would be the only installer I’d trust at the moment.
Ideal HP290 10kw heat pump, 2.99kw PV, Powerwall 2, Zappi charger, EV. Midlands location hybrid house part 1911, part 1970, part 2020s.
I am going to have a heat pump ready unvented hot water tank installed in any event.

@davesoa Just had my mixergy cylinder installed yesterday 🙂 I installed my own heatpump in my hybrid house having done a test over the winter with running my combi at 40C for heating. My blog address is below if you are interested.
@sunandair fair point.

I've followed up those last two posts from @davesoa over on the topic What do we need to know...
Save energy... recycle electrons!
Hello 🙂
We have just had ASHP/PV/Internal insulation fitted under the ECO4 scheme.
Qualifying conditions where one household member on Universal Credits (disabled, wheelchair bound son), no access to mains gas (previously using oil fired Range for heating and cooking) and some solid brick walls (original front half of cottage).
We now have a Samsung 12kw ASHP, nine 415w PV panel array, upgraded radiators and DHW water tank (+ pumps etc). Two wireless zone thermostat controllers and Samsung MWR-WW10N wired remote controller.
AHP has been active for two weeks and PV array came on line two days ago.

Hello @lenny and welcome. It's hard to tell when it's late May but how is it so far? Were you given a walk through, manuals, instructions and so on?

early days as you say.
Yes, I have all the manuals and was given hand overs ............. tbh maybe a bit basic but I'm working my way through the controller settings bit by bit.
So far it all does what it should but, as you say, it should do this time of year !

Hi all. This forum looks like a good find, thanks for getting your contributions in. Doing a new build in N Ireland, and heating is now my latest obsession!
Hi to all. Joined up as a recent adopter of solar and battery storage. Enjoying some great free electricity. Best day so far in May has seen 29.4kWh from a 4.2kW installation split between east and south-facing roofs.
