Can anyone hazard a guess as to why water is coming out of this wee pipe outside my house? I remember the engineers referred to it as the “run off” or something like that. The cylinder is whooshing too, like water coming in or out of it.
it did it last week for about 20 minutes too.
I just can’t seem to find anything in my documents or online as to what this is.

Is the water coming out of the pipe hot? Where does the pipe connect inside your home? Is the water in the tank getting too hot?
@derek-m seems to be warm water. Weird.
The hot water is on a top up cycle and stuck at 37 degrees while it does this.
if I turn on a hot water tap the whooshing stops but it’s not hot coming out of the tap.
Water temp now up to 39 but still cold out of tap while this whooshing noise and outside flow continues.

Can you provide photo's of where this overflow pipe is connected inside your home?
Is there a pressure relief valve installed within this pipework?
@derek-m it goes straight through the wall seemingly from the cylinder but it’s hard to see the full workings now with the cupboard.
You may have to employ a hand mirror.
Can you make a sketch of where the pipework connects and identify any equipment fitted to the pipework.
