@mikeh in my 6kW outdoor unit it is not chained and also not on the feet. This was in agreement with me. So the risk of toppling are very small.

@majordennisbloodnok intriguingly the Aira control unit (in our hallway) is stated by Aira documents to use Thread which is neat but is not accessible to me.

@vsmith1 If you have access to Home Assistant then you will be able to see all the data using this https://github.com/Invy55/ha-airahome

Aqara sells some inexpensive hubs (usb dongle size) that support Matter (I think Thread as well) and may provide a simple solution you. Or you may even have an Amazon echo or Google device that can handle Thread.

If you have @gmuzz or another helpful forum member assistance to get home assistant working (pun not intended), that would be great. The HA hardware would need to be near the control unit or pump (as BLE does not work well across walls). And you can also get into a new world of using ESP32 devices that convert BLE into wifi! Both of these have steep learning curves, but in my experience are a great way to keep more of my grey cells active!

Has anyone tried using the Smart Tariff Control on the Aira app? I set it up yesterday, but it randomly ran the DHW cycle during peak-rate electricity periods, both yesterday and today. I remember setting it up in the summer and it wasn’t working correctly then either, so I turned it off to check back once the heating season starts. It doesn't seem to be working properly yet.

Has anyone heard anything from Aira about how the Smart Tariff Control actually works?

@chandykris I also tried it in the summer. It seems to be programmed to alway have a full tank of hot water. Even with that inevitably runner the DHW during higher rates after morning showers. I've not reached out to Aira though, I just turned it back off.

@chandykris it's still buggy. It effectively deletes you dhw schedule and just heats the water whenever it needs to top up the cylinder.

They know they need to fix it and say they are working on something at the moment. Ad a minimum they should separate the dhw schedule from the heating control.

Thanks @gmuzz @mikeh

They still mention on the app that it if you choose smart tariff control they will shift DHW to off peak. They should at least tweak the app to remove that wording until they fix their algorithms. I have reached out to Aira Support, will update here when I hear their response.

Aira called me back today, but not sure we got to the actual problem. The support agent was just saying that if I am happy to set the manual schedule I should use that. They won't tell me whether there is a bug in their algorithms. So, I have just turned smart tariff control off. If they can preheat the house a bit during the off-peak hours slightly higher than the set temperature, I guess it will help. But, not sure how this works, so not going to experiment much and stick to the standard mode.
