@kev-m thanks. Excellent link and resource. We’re in mid Wales/West Midlands, so I ran all the options that would be nearest to us from the drop down list and prices are capped at just under 21p. Not sure if they include VAT, but that’s higher than our new tariff from E.ON.

@kev-m, yeah, I just saw the fine print at the bottom. Just trying to determine which region we fall into. Tariff and standing charge is much higher from E.ON.

Seems we fall under North Wales and Mersey so should be under 21p/kWh and 22.4p standing charge, not standing charge of 28.04p per day and 23.17p/kWh as per E.ON’s last email to us.

How does the CAP price work, as there is a variance in price throughout the country?

@editor I understand that. But if there is a cap why the difference in price in different regions? Price differences outwith the CAP are subject to supply and demand, The CAP is not influenced by that, or is it?
@prjohn, I don't fully understand the mechanics to be honest. Not only are some regions more expensive, prices vary by postcode (what I refer to as postcode favouritism) and it has to do with the 'difficulty' to deliver the electricity to that region/area and to maintain it. I find it hard to understand how we can pay more for electricity than the people in town (less than one mile away). @siko is in a similar situation.
I suspect Derek will know a lot more about the minutiae of how this works.

Yeah agreed....living at the end of the wire in the middle of nowhere we pay a fairly hefty rate. Looking forward (not) to seeing my bill for Nov but I think it's going to be brutal, otherwise it's been very reasonable sofar although I'm bouncing off the price cap!
