So I am comparing BEV to H2 EV.
I had read about the Scottish 100% H2 trial - will be interesting to see the results

How will large quantities of H2 be created? Electrolysis with green electric is the only carbon neutral method - why not use the electric directly?
One argument is H2 can be stored, whereas electric cannot - but as more BEVs appear and we get V2G, this is the mitigation

Daikin Altherma 3H HT 18kW ASHP with Mixergy h/w cylinder; 4kW solar PV with Solic 200 electric diverter; Honda e and Hyundai Ioniq 5 P45 electric vehicles with Myenergi Zappi mk1 charger

Am sure V2G will help a lot but standards for vehicles and chargers still need sorting.

Also wind can be unreliable for weeks... This December wind levels are only 33% of seasonal norms. At other times we have more wind than the grid can cope with and v2g will only partly solve this.

We already discard wind energy when there is too much wind. We even pay wind farms to discard excess power and this cost goes on our bills and is increasing.

What should the hydrogen get used for is what i am not sure about

Hi @editor

I've had a question from HR3 about the operation of their ASHP. To be able to answer the question as accurately as possible I need to remind myself about their system, but trying to find previous posts is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Is there an easy simple method?

@derek-m, what we can do, if people are willing to do it, is update their About Me information on their profile and put all the info in there. So you (or any other user) can view their profile and see their system. Would that help? The other option is for users to have their info their signature like mine. Bat alto has one too. Is that useful.

@editor,

that would be good for basic info.  For more details, is there a facility where you can click on a user's profile and see their posting history?  I've seen that on other forums.

Panic over. I can find previous posts using the user's profile route, and although it is a pain having to go through each one, at least it is much better than going through the whole forum.

Thanks Mars and Kev.

Hello I'm Tom,

I have been interested in energy systems for a while now and have been looking into the fesability of being self sufficient in energy at home (yeah I know it's not going to happen but one can dream) mainly because I get to do lots of maths and draw pretty graphs. To this end I am would like to plan a Solar assisted ASHP with ice storage. I have seen these systems used in Austria and Poland but not the UK.

On top of this I love building things so this will proberly be a DIY project (Not even sure anyone sells one here) just to make it more fun.

Hope for many interesting conversations.

Setithing.
