I'm so confused and worried about the running costs of my heat pump. Please help!
Hopefully someone with the same ASHP can talk you through that 🙂 I have a different one I’m afraid.Â

What is the size of your home and how many rooms are there?
Do you have a Smart meter.
Without giving away 'state secrets', could you provide details of your bills from before the heat pump was installed and since it was installed.
@winnie-wicket, Daikin have contacted me and have asked if I can share your contact details with them so that they can send someone out to have a look. Please let me know. Feel free to DM me.

It's a small 2 bed bungalow. One lounge, kitchen and bathroom.
My bills have varied because the situation here has been confusing really. I,ll try to remember what I can but I have memory problems.
When I first moved in here 15 years ago I had economy 7.  After about 5 years they changed my heating to normal type I. also had a solar hot water panel that was on the side of my bungalow and it was brilliant, never any trouble. The New central heating was French and when it broke down they couldn't get the parts that needed replacing so after being without proper heating while they tried to get the part, they then told me I was having this new ashp fitted. When they did it they removed the hot water solar panel.
My bills with the normal heating system were around 60.00 a month.Â
My bills with the ashp rose to around 160.00. My energy provider Bulb now want upwards of 400.00 a month direct debit to cover my estimated usage this winter.

Do you have the date at which the ASHP was installed and commissioned? Electricity has risen from 15p/unit (for arguments sake) to 34p/unit over the last 18 months, in two different steps (29p/unit was from April '22 to October '22) so that needs to be considered when looking at your bills.
Off grid on the isle of purbeck
2.4kW solar, 15kWh Seplos Mason, Outback power systems 3kW inverter/charger, solid fuel heating with air/air for shoulder months, 10 acres of heathland/woods.
My wife’s house: 1946 3 bed end of terrace in Somerset, ASHP with rads + UFH, triple glazed, retrofit IWI in troublesome rooms, small rear extension.
First of all I cannot understand why they would remove what sounds to have been a solar thermal system, since it could have been incorporated with an ASHP and the correct hot water cylinder.
Ideally we need to know your consumption in kWh's, since tariffs have varied over recent time periods. Do you have a Smart meter?
I think that you should also ask Bulb to provide a breakdown of how they arrive at a figure of £400 per month. This would seem rather excessive for a small 2 bedroom property.

Here are some readings, according to the smart meter. Some from last year, some from after April when costs went up and some up to now. I don't have any of the oil filled radiators on, no heating at all, just the tv and 2 lamps right now.
