Planning permission query - are the 14kw ecodan's a permitted development??
Hello all - we're about three weeks away from an installation of an ecodan 14kw. I'd thought that this was covered as a permitted development - this is what the installer advised - also seemed to be backed up by my research.
However - if you fast forward to the 5min 30second mark of this video the guy installer here who seems very well up on things says that the 14kw ecodans are not covered - only the smaller ones in the range.
I've queried this with the installer and will attempt some further research.
Pls can anyone advise? I know a couple of the contributors on here (George and Kev?) have the ecodan 14kw's - did you need to get planning?
Very grateful for any help on this. Sorry - I know planning has been discussed on here before and can vary locally in practice - just trying to check the position as def don't want hassles further down the line etc.
Many thanks.
I believe the planning permission applies to the sound from the unit
Planning permission, rules for air source heat pumps:As part of Permitted Development Rights planning permission will no longer be required as long as a few rules are adhered too.
Only one heat pump can be installed without planning permission if you have 2 units you ALWAYS need planning permission.
The outdoor unit must be less than 0.6m^3 in size It must not exceed 45dBa as measured at the nearest window of the next door neighbour’s property.
It must be installed by MCS installer as part of the MCS scheme.
