Hi Adam,
Please read the 'Applications Guidelines' on page 18 and confirm that your systems complies with all the requirements. It also explains why the gas boiler is indicating a water flow temperature of 48C, because the ASHP controller can only switch the gas boiler on and off, it cannot control the water flow temperature, this is set by the gas boiler controller.
Hi Adam,
I would suggest that when you have time, that you read through the manual, looking in particular for details of how the controller monitors and displays information about how the heat pump is performing.
Until the weather gets warmer you will probably find that your ASHP will not be operating very often, which will make it difficult to make any meaningful tests and adjustments. You should be thankful that you have a gas boiler doing your heating rather than the ASHP.
Sorry I missed your edit in your last reply.
The unit seems to fall short on reporting data in real time or showing the last X days. It only allows me to see previous months and month to date. I will have a better look into this over the winter ready to resume looking at the ASHP come Spring. Yes I appreciate having the gas boiler option!
Thanks again for all your help with this and hoping we can pick this up at some point in the future.
The last couple of days the ASHP has seen some action again due to the higher ambient air temps! That being said the gas boiler has still supplied the majority of December's demand.
Part of the reason for signing up was that a few of my neighbours ASHP's were running almost constantly, even at low temps. I was under the impression they had tuned the system, however, now I realise the opposite was true and they had not adjusted the kWh pricing settings in the controller.
I wonder if anyone has any experience of adjusting the flow temps on the gas boiler side of the Daikin? I can't seem to see anything in the manual for this, if this is static or also Weather Dependent?
Hi Adam,
I'm not an expert on modern gas boilers. If my memory serves me well, on my mother's gas combi boiler it was possible to select the desired outlet temperature. You could try searching for an installation manual, rather than a user manual.
@derek-m Thanks! I have managed to get this from the Installer Overview. LWT in the Comfort mode is 45°C and in Eco mode is 40°C. I wonder why the boiler display indicates 48°C for the LWT in the Comfort mode?
I shall see if I can work this out perhaps some offset setting is at play.
Any suggestions from anyone as to what normal/optimal could be?
@derek-m I have been using your spreadsheet to sense check some of my weather dependent heat curves. I notice on Notes tab you provide explanations. I shall see if I can fill in the required fields as best as possible now.

Fine Adam,
As I often used to tell young Engineers, "If all else fails, read the instructions". 🙄
It would be interesting to see what results you get. The main body of data in the spreadsheets was obtained from document ATW_Databook_R32_Vol5.3, which Kev was kind enough to provide.

I am needing a little help with Heating Demand please, what do I need to know to calculate this?
Hi Adam,
I used the heat loss calculation for the building. Obviously, the total heat demand would include hot water production, but since this varies from household to household I excluded this from the calculation.
@adaml there is one in my signature. It's very straightforward, just make your own copy and off you go
