If it is possible, I would suggest that you check back in your Smart meter history to see if the problem has started recently, or was present previously. Once you find the date at which it may have started, think back to any changes that may have been made to your system.
@derek-m Only changes made were altering dhw schedule and opening living area loops. If i hear back from plumber ill update here. I cant login to my smart meter but i think i had few spikes going back to January, but every night its coming on now without any call for heat. It doesn't seem to happen during the day at all.

The problem occurring overnight could indicate that it is related to lower outside temperatures. When did you start using setback at night?
A sensor out of range could cause this but also the unit does like to use the BUH if the outdoor is close to the time out range in DHW, or to fulfill a heating load. The equilibrium set to zero does stop most of the usage of the BUH but it can have an effect in certain circumstances still above equilibrium.
What model unit is this? Do you have an integrated system with a built on tank? As this would explain that.
Hardly coming on because im only using 1 dhw schdeule now? I took off reheat.
Do you mean that the heat pump is hardly coming on? Please try to be precise when passing information. Did the problem start after you removed reheat?
What happened when you set the system to setback and increased the Equilibrium Temperature above the outside temperature? Did you try this during the daytime?
@derek-m Sorry that's my irish way, i mean its unlikely coming on because i have only 1 dhw schedule? I tried equilibrium adjustment at daytime and 11pm, didn't seem to have any affect but maybe it takes time. Do you understand what daikin are saying because i dont.
Has the system been told to refer to EXT RT ( this can be found in installer settings, System layout, Standard, Control method ) assuming your using 3rd party thermostats and not the daikin controller as stat. if you are using the daikin controller there is frost protection setting via the stat?
Thats the latest question from daikin, must check tonight when i get home.
so it happened again at 11:30last night, l have attached pics of what was running and temps. Have other pics of other settings
but not sure if relevant.
anyway ext rt was ok. Happened again this morning at 6am, only noticed which proves my point no call for heat, thermostat main a is off when this is happening and thats on when stat calling. V strange noise coming from pump this morning so def a physical issue rather then a setting. Was onto daikin and hoping to get engineer out and maybe replacement unit. Major buzzing noise coming from somewhere.
Just last update, turns out a small number alterma2 hps left factory with room frost protection enabled when i should be disabled, enabled on older monobloc hp. I was guided into installer settings and overview settings until i got to code 2-06, this had 1 beside indicating it was enabled, disabled it and appears the issue is sorted. This was probably casusing high energy usage all winter i hope. Thanks for all input here aswell, even daikin fella said you know alot about the heat pumps as was able to answer all his questions and rule stuff out.
