I have a very specific question about completing heat loss calculations.
What are the rules to measure heat loss from stairs?
Are they ignored, included in the volume of the landing, etc. The room list in MCS spreadsheet does not mention stairs and nor do any of the examples of diy heat loss (that I can find).

I don't know about 'rules'; I did my calculations by first principles, considering where any heat would be lost.  Basically, first floor ceiling losses into the loft, ground floor losses into the floor and any external walls and windows. Add in a consideration for 'air change' and drafts.

Exactly.  Hall, stairs and landing are just another room, like any other.
