I just came across this German ASHP:

Does anyone know why it is not available here (at least I can't find it for sale)? I can see that even the 8kW model is too big to qualify for permitted development under current MCS rules, so that would limit the market. But plenty people end up having to apply for planning, so there should still be a market for it in the UK, especially in view of it having sound power of 42dB, which would really help those who are struggling to get planning permission on noise grounds. (Or am I misunderstanding the sound power figures?)

As I understand it, the size limit for permitted development might be increased, because ASHPs could perform much better if they were allowed to be bigger. Is the Lambda an example of the benefits of allowing a bigger machine?

The other big advantage it seems to have is its SCOP. According to Crog ( https://crog.uk/heatpump/2024/02/15/5Kw-Heat-Pump-SCOP.html ), it is significantly better than Ecodan, Vaillant, Samsung.

I wish our uk ASHP's could be made more attractive like this. Ours are so tedious and ugly (in my humble opinion).

The maximum Lambda sound power seems to be 56dB, judging by the tech specs:

Which is better than, say, Daikin, but not better than some on the UK market.

@ivanopinion have you checked the MCS database – most European heat pumps will get MCS accreditation, so if they're on the database, they'll be available in the UK. I'll also ask some people who might know.
