@johnmo and @benson Thanks!
I was aware there was a portal, but had never stumbled across any means to access it - when I directly requested access to it when discussing issues with Support, it is always a "no".
@benson if you login to https://account.homelyenergy.com/account/settings/dataPreferences/ you can change a toggle
Do you want to allow your installer access to your system monitoring data?
As I'm back on the forum to ask more questions I thought I should update on the Homely. It turns out it wasn't just the battery and a new node was sent out, but the wrong one. This took weeks to get that sorted and by the time I finally had a working node there were only a few weeks where we needed the heating on much. Being in a new house with south facing windows and a mild spring meant we could turn the heating off in March so there wasn't many weeks when it was in use.
It was working with the new node long for enough to find out that the cool night mode worked for us, it allowed the house to warm up during the day and not be too hot at night. I also had to set the temperature lower than I wanted it as it had a tendancy to overshoot even after a few weeks. I'm still not sure it has quite as much control as I would really like, but I am planning on fitting one in the next house we are building at the moment as long as I can find a way with the plumbers for it to work with a seperate zone for the bathroom UFH.
@johnnyb I have had several discussions with Homely about the ‘overrun on temperatures. I was using Smart+ and it transpires that this is the problem; when using this setting. Homely looks ahead to see the highest requested temperature (possibly over the next two day or more!) and will, despite any requests for a reduced comfort level in the meanwhile, aim to maintain this highest level in the home. In my opinion, I feel this is perhaps not the best arrangement and needs ‘reigning in’.
Much discussion with Homely over this and we have come to the decision that, in my situation, using the Homely Standard mode allows for the control algorithms to adhere to the temperature I request at that time.
As it happens, I am now using a set temperature 24/7 but when I attempted to have slightly cooler times during setback or whatever, Smart+ was effectively overriding my requests! Standard is more obedient.😉 Maybe I am being an extra nerdish fusspot these days - at least I won’t need to subscribe to Smart+ @ an annual fee of £25!

Funny how simpler is often better. I have settled on running my heating 24*7 at same temp no setback, bedrooms slightly cooler than living rooms (by turning down lsvs a bit). I might try a set forward to take advantage of the night time cheap rate, but I'm not sure I can be bothered as I have never been happier with my heating than I am now, nor has it ever been cheaper in relation to energy prices (well not in this house)

That is pretty much how I will operate mine. On almost all days except when close to or below zero, the heat pump will rarely fires up in the day.

I wish I had the large slab that you have.
Unfortunately my floors are either suspended wooden or uninsulated concrete.
My house heat capacity is about 20KWh/C so at 7kW design loss that's 3 hrs per degree, or 5 hrs when the house loss is a more usual 4 kW.

@toodles I was finding a similar thing, it was maintaining the highest temperature that I had set at any point during the week. I did discuss this with them at one point and they suggested the same, change it to the standard setting. This is OK on one level but one of the selling points of Homely is to make use of smart tariffs.
I can make it work but it does seem to me, and it sounds like it does to you too, that they need to change their settings so it follows the heat pattern that is set by the user to some extent.
What I found with Homely was it was best with the least amount of set points possible. i.e. 6-8 am 21C 4-9pm 21C and leave the rest empty. I set the range to 1C so it would only overheat to 22C (the bedrooms have trv’s so didn’t overheat). It will target the highest desired temperature for the following day.
My suggestion would be to only program the times and temperatures that matter and leave Homely to manage the rest. Once I figured that out it worked great.

Samsung HTQ 8kW heat pump using mostly existing radiators. House is warm 24/7 (normally between 20.3-20.6 C but currently with a newborn its 21-21.2 C).
Sunamp for hot water storage.
Solaredge 6kWp PV and 10kWh battery
Vehicle 2 Grid charger (used with a Leaf)
Wallbox EV charger (installed for Octopus Intelligent).
Home Assistant used for HEMS with lots of custom ESP devices to allow integration.
Insulation upgrades:
EPS cavity wall insulation.
Improved loft insulation (renewed and 300mm where possible).

Which setting are you on, Standard? I found Smart just kept the house a degree above the set point all the time. I haven't tried Standard.
@johnnyb I was on Smart, mostly because I was on Agile and it was pretty good at optimising around that. I have actually disconnected Homely at the the moment and am using Home Assistant / ESPhome to control my Samsung. Homely (being Modbus) blocks any other inputs and I am now on intelligent Octopus go which Homely doesn’t support.
I actually found that apart from when we were at the end of a cheap period when it would over heat slightly, it actually was very good at maintaining the internal temperature.

Is everyone else’s homely working ok? The last couple of days we’ve had a very odd fault. Everything seems to be stuck and flatlining. Flow temp at 53. Cylinder temp at 50. Our HW randomly came on at half one this morning which is nowhere near reheat time (and setting on app is to reheat during set periods, not pre heat). Also HW is stuck as permanently on, on the app…
(attached graph is flow temp)
Mine is working as normal today, no issues. Do you have Installer/Connect access? If so, check the overview & connectivity area then the base stats that show current state.
