Does the ASHP system work ok if stopcock for taps etc is switched off.

Hello all - wondering if anyone can help. Been away for ten days and have had a bad leak in kitchen which has warped floor boards and made a bit of a mess. Struggling to get anyone out but have turned the stopcock off in the meantime just to try and stabilise things. We have an ecodan which works with an underfloor heating system - in my head I think that this is a separate system so a day or two with stopcock turning off water to taps etc until we can get a plumber out should be ok - but basically I've got no idea and last thing I want is to cause any damage to the heating. 

Sorry if that's a bit of a naive question I know there's a lot of very clued up people on these boards - definitely appreciate any advice on this- thanks in advance if anyone can offer some.

The first thing that you need to do is try to locate the leak. If it is at a tap or inside your washing machine or dishwasher then just shut off the water supply to that device if possible. You should then be able to restore the water supply to your home.

If the water leak is on the cold water supply to your taps, then your heating circuit should not be affected. Check the pressure on your system, if it is still pressurised them it should be okay.

You should prevent any DHW heating by the heat pump or immersion heater, since it will just waste energy.

@derek-m thanks for this - really appreciated.  The leak is I think behind a kitchen unit - it's in a really difficult place I looked but cant see anything to isolate it easily. 

Going to turn water off via the stopcock but keep an eye on things - fingers crossed can get someone out soon but insurance company emergency response team have gone missing in action.
