Choice of heat pump - Help needed - Vaillant Arotherm versus Samsung versus Logic Air versus Grant Aerona
Not going to suggest I find it desirable, btw.
105 m2 bungalow in South East England
Mitsubishi Ecodan 8.5 kW air source heat pump
18 x 360W solar panels
1 x 6 kW GroWatt battery and SPH5000 inverter
1 x Myenergi Zappi
1 x VW ID3
Raised beds for home-grown veg and chickens for eggs
"Semper in excretia; sumus solum profundum variat"
Toodles, he heats his home with cold draughts and cooks his food with magnets.
tbh there isnt a lot of difference between the heat pumps listed, they are all good, all small, all quiet etc.
But the service levels are dramatically different. The best heat pump service for after care is Ideal, simply awesome, i cant rave about it enough. The rest ok at best .
I'm literally Mr Samsung, ive sold them for 15 years, ive had every model on test at home over the years. all really good, but I have an Ideal at home now and Ideal couldn't be more helpful they are setting the standard for after care and everyone else needs to catch up.
Vaillant never tried them, likewise grant. I've never had need to look into them, they are similar to Samsung etc so why change brands?
but whatever you put in good luck and welcome to heat pumps. GH

Silly question, perhaps, but if you haven't tried Vaillant or Grant on what criteria are you judging that their customer service is "OK at best"?

fair points ive not tried them on aftercare but tbh i haven't tried very hard with either of them, never had the need, they are just average heat pumps in a sea of average heat pumps. never needed to change brands so far.

In fairness, then, nor can you say they are average. All you can justifiably say is that you know Samsung and Ideal well and have insufficient experience with the others to comment.
Having stated you have a commercial interest in Samsung and Ideal, I’m afraid I’m not comfortable with you making negative comments about other brands without backing them up with evidence.

Vaillant service for the application installation was great, one engineer visit and 4 extensive replies from the help desk. BUT tbh it should have been better coded so that the customer didn’t need to reinstall an app 3 times to get it right!
2kW + Growatt & 4kW +Sunnyboy PV on south-facing roof Solar thermal. 9.5kWh Givenergy battery with AC3. MVHR. Vaillant 7kW ASHP (very pleased with it) open system operating on WC
@judith If it is any consolation @judith, the Daikin app is no better; that took many attempts to install and every few months, it loses all identity and has to be re-installed. Every time I open the app, it informs me it has found a new unit on my set-up and wants to install it…. as many times as I tell it to go ahead, it just sits there informing me it is installing…….. installing…. installing. And I only ever use the app for a glance at consumption patterns! Regards, Toodles.

I have recently had a Samsung 12.5Kwh, Gen 7 fitted. Wish Samsung had written the User Manual for homeowners without a degree in space technology and had used a vocabulary in general UK use. As a sales rep Graham, do you have such a document? Thanks.
I still struggle to understand this re: Samsungs: https://renewableheatinghub.co.uk/forums/postid/32750
Which bit are you having problems with?
I have a Samsung which performs well so might be able to help.
House-2 bed partial stone bungalow, 5kW Samsung Gen 6 ASHP (Self install)
6.9 kWp of PV
5kWh DC coupled battery
