Has anyone had experience of fitting an ASHP to a park home?. At present we have a combi gas boiler,( therefore no water tank),  that has already developed a couple of faults, so we are at a point where we need to decide- repair, replace or something new.

The home is very well insulated, so we have been spending <£400 pa on hot water and heating, but that is bound to increase due to both price increases and government plans to move levies from electricity to gas.

As a second question, any recommendations for MCS accredited installers that cover North Lancashire

@bugman1248, I don't have experience with park homes but it shouldn't make much difference, as long as your estate/location allows ASHPs and you have an EPC (you need this to claim RHI). Even if green levies are moved around, gas CH will probably still be cheaper to run. You'll also pay much more for an ASHP, HW cylinder and fitting than a new gas boiler.  You will get RHI (or its replacement) with an ASHP but you need the cash up front (at least you do with RHI).

I'm not trying to put you off but if you have a gas CH system it's likely to be cheaper to just replace the boiler. But if you want to move away from fossil fuels there's no reason why an ASHP won't work, especially if your home is well-insulated.

Your biggest problem will likely be the electricity supply to your home - do you have a limited supply (i.e. 32a)?

Even a small ASHP will use ~5a current when running, and your current combi boiler will be using close to 0 (other than the ignition phase and the controller electronics). You'd have to consider if that (potentially consistent) load would take you close to your supply's limit with all the other things you may have powered in your home.

Would an air to air heat pump not work? As for MCS, I’d suggest calling them to recommend installers, and then Google them to see if any have reviews or recommendations online. We spoke to Ian Rippin from MCS, and got the impression that their helpline will be able to provide advice on all the questions you have. I’d suggest starting there. Please let us know how you come along?
