Additional Battery v Wind Turbine v Ripple
Posted by: @abernyteThe biggest problem for the Coops is that Ripple funded them and the Administrators might look to recover that money. If not, great but they will still need to find someone to take on running them. That might be tricky.
I wonder if Octopus might step in.... they had an interest did they not? I think Ripple supplied them. Octopus has a separate generation company so has a ready to go piece of business infrastructure. They own big wind farms.

Octopus recently launched their own very similar scheme called the Collective:
Samsung 12kW gen6 ASHP with 50L volumiser and all new large radiators. 7.2kWp solar (south facing), Tesla PW3 (13.5kW)
Solar generation completely offsets ASHP usage annually. We no longer burn ~1600L of kerosene annually.
@editor Yes, we have indeed invested (see my brief posting above) we wait for further news; we have been assured that construction of Derril Water Solar Park is ongoing [at the moment]. Regrets, Toodles.
Toodles, he heats his home with cold draughts and cooks his food with magnets.
In the end I invested £1500 in three different solar and wind stocks. Since Trump I’m about £150 down but I have had about £30 in dividends I think.
House-2 bed partial stone bungalow, 5kW Samsung Gen 6 ASHP (Self install)
6.9 kWp of PV
5kWh DC coupled battery

Does anyone have access to this https://utilityweek.co.uk/ripple-energy-takeover-talks-begin-after-administrators-called-in/ or any other trade site with more information?
This is the most detailed I’ve been able to google (non paywalled) https://metro.co.uk/2025/03/20/energy-firm-20-000-customers-brink-going-bust-22760578/
Yes we had an investment with them, but whether there’s anything to be salvaged I don’t know.
2kW + Growatt & 4kW +Sunnyboy PV on south-facing roof Solar thermal. 9.5kWh Givenergy battery with AC3. MVHR. Vaillant 7kW ASHP (very pleased with it) open system operating on WC
@judith I see from that article that Greg Jackson is aware of the situation and, I hope, his lack of further statement indicates that he is ‘making his own [well, his advisors will be] enquiries. Perhaps we will near more on this anon. Regards, Toodles.

There's a clear set of legal procedures that has to be followed when receivers are called in. So I don't think there'll be any comments from anyone until the stages are gone through.
I suspect it will not have much impact on the function of the generation set up but maybe in the ownership structure. As shareholders you guys are ahead of some but behind others in the pecking order. I also suspect there will be a rescue but how that is 'valued' remains to be seen.
@lucia I didn’t invest more than I can afford to lose but, naturally, I would rather not lose anything! Only time will tell. Toodles.

@toodles I don't think I've ever seen such goodwill towards a company that's going into administration. Lots of people are posting their letters online. All the generating and/or maintenance is continuing as normal apparently.
This is Greg Jackson's comment today:
"A lot of customers have been in contact with us and as ever we'd love to be helpful if possible and viable. But I can't say much more than that at present. It really is (rightly) all down to the administrators and co-ops at this stage."
I thought y'all might like to see that.
There was a call today for Ripple investors and amongst other topics one was if you bought shares on credit card then there may be options for recovery of funds that way.
The receiver web site gives details
