Posted by: @bataltoI'm just waiting for my smart meter to come active and I'll move to Octopus GO - its fixed for 12 months at 15p/kw and 5p/kw from 00.30 - 04.30
I'd advise anyone with them to switch ASAP as they've confirmed the prices are fixed for 12 months
Yeah that's a brilliant deal if you can get it - sadly the WAN coverage is not good enough for us in the back of beyond when I asked Octopus.
@kev-m, I'm waiting for our E.ON tariff bombshell after we were assigned them too.

@jeff Just switched this morning and I can say, I squeaked in!!! As a note, they said I would get the tariff when I applied (back before August) and not the current rate
Octopus Go rates
Period | Price (inc. VAT) |
00:30 - 04:30 | 5.00 |
04:30 - 00:30 | 15.59 |

Good to hear.
I assume the 12 months on this tariff lasts until around October 13th 2022? The only thing you have lost out on is your old tariff lasted until sometime in 2023?
The Octopus Agile tariff struggles at the moment as Octopus don't forward buy any of the electricity for these users unlike the Go tariff.
As an aside some of the people on V2G trials are experiencing dramatic savings at the moment. Some even have such large payments for the V2G electricity that it covers the whole of their gas and electric bills and they have credit on their accounts. Large car and home batteries where the supplier takes control of when they charge and discharge will be an interesting area to watch.
We may only see tariffs like Octopus Go for a couple of years.
@jeff I cant actually see when it ends. They stated 12 months, but I have nothing giving an end date. However hopefully all these issues will be cleared for this time next year.

There may be a page on your octopus online account with the info, i think most suppliers have a page with the contract details.
Worst case the details are on the second page of your octopus bills i see.

Type in your postcode and you will see the NextFlex rates which are their standard variable rates. You may see more that one, this is because people pay their bills in different ways, e.g. pre payment meters.
My tariff for our post code.
Unit rate | 22 p/kWh |
---|---|
Standing charge | 23.5 p/day |
Makes running a heat pump completely unaffordable.

@batalto, did you already have a smart metre?

@editor no we had to get one fitted. They used the rate we agreed when we applied. Not what it was when the meter was fitted. Took a couple of months
