How will the Money off Energy Scheme know how much energy i am not using during the peak time?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-63483668
I came across this article above. Does anyone know how will this atchally work? They say if u save 1kw during peak time u get £3for each kw. How will they know how many kw I didn't use during peak time? Woll they somehow know from smart meter the peak time usage from past days?
16kw Samsung TDM ASHP. 8.4kw PV, power optimizers 20×420watt panels 6kw SolarEdge inverter.
I think the £3 is what it's worth to suppliers to achieve that reduction. How they persuade you to comply is up to them. Here's a summary of schemes to date. The deafening silence from the big suppliers may reflect a complete lack of interest on their part in doing anything at all.
But how will they know how much I saved?

I see..... so it is not by how many kw I save during those peak hours.

@andris Not for Ovo. But the Octopus link I supplied earlier appears to suggest they look at your reduction relative to your average at those 2 hour moments they invite you to reduce consumption.
I suppose those with a heat pump can preheat their home prior to the 2 hour period and then drop the setpoint so that their heat pump does not operate during that period. My wife and I have already reduced our consumption as much as possible during the peak period, so would probably struggle to reduce our average 4kWh per day any further.
People with battery storage may also be able to benefit.

This is stupid and, unless they add countermeasures, will encourage people to move usage to peak times on not -saving days, so as to raise their average saving and thereby payment. I really hope they rethink before doing it.
