PV and Battery Solution for East/West setup
I was originally considering a standard string inverter setup for my mum's house in Cambridgeshire because there is no real shading on the roof, other than sunset and sunrise periods. However, after some further consideration/research and various conversations (which I hope has resulted in a better understanding of optimisers!), I have begun to come round to the idea of them!
However rather than a solaredge system, I am considering Huawei optimisers combined with their Luna2000 battery system to complement it with at least 10kW storage, which will give me a 5kW max power output. Option to add a 3rd module to increase storage to 15kW
The total system will be 8.5 kW although I still figuring the best panels to go for. It's currently between Trina's 415W Vertex S+, or the 425W Vertex S. The S is cheaper by approx 20, but the S+ has amazing warranty (25yr product, 30yr power) and only 0.4% annual degradation (1% first year), compared to the S 0.55% annual deg (2% first year). On the face of it the S seems the best value, but is the S+ more savvy?!
I've decided to turn toward the optimisers for a couple of main reasons:
- Given there will be 20 panels it makes sense to be able to monitor how they are each performing
- Shading - again, due to the size of the array split over two aspects, it started make sense that as the sun passes over the house east to west there would be varying levels of shading during the year, which could be smoothed out with optimisers. In additional the generation would also be improved during the gradual shading occuring when the sun sets and rises .
Has anyone used Huawei optimisers/batteries? Any thoughts or suggestions on this setup..?
