there is a simple one on the site I posted the link for that is customisable. The Stelrad radiator site has a very comprehensive one that is also customisable. Both of these sites require you to sign up.

@warren-s I posted a calculator on here where you can input your own U values. Just have a look
mars/kev thanks for the replies have applied for the freedomhp.one i saw on youtube . once i get that and some figures ill start a thread on my findings a get some advice for what systems may be best .

@warren-s just go to that link and there is an option to download your own copy. Then you're off
batalto , many thanks . entered all my data on your link after copying for a new project and got a heat loss of 4457w 30wm2 148m2 heated floor space . but when i try and choose any pump on the 2nd sheet it does no populate or change any of the paramiters or energy graph . any ideas guys

@chris-richardson, did your heat pump get installed earlier this year as scheduled?

Posted by: @gordonvilleHello,
We are very excited to find this forum. Looks like lots of real world advice on what seems like a bit of a minefield when choosing what renewables are best for us.
We are currently at the quotes stage for ASHP and considering solarPV with battery storage if the budget allows.
We have just spent our first winter in our 100 year old semi detached stone house in the Scottish Borders.
With an aging gas combo boiler and under spec’d rads, it was a very cold (but expensive) one. We have suspended wooden floors and lath+plaster interior walls.
Looking at new windows first then adding solid insulation to the attic room.Had quotes for two types of ASHP with new piping for upstairs rads and UFH for down stairs. Both 12kW but one Nibe and the other Vaillent.
At the moment we are weighing up if the Vaillent (high temp) would be a bad move due to running costs. Quotes both come in at just over 20k.
Is there a thread discussing high temp ASHP on here? I’m struggling to find it if there is.
Looking forward to getting involved!
@gordonville, did you ever pull the trigger on switching to a heat pump?

@editor Hello, thank you for coming back and checking in.
We opted to get a new gas fired boiler. We had the old column rads we had replaced with K2 convection ones. K3 seemed like a big impact on the space and my wife had reservations on the ASHP impact on the garden. We would have required planning permission as we live in a conservation area and the heat pump would face a road (private one but a road none the less). We would also have needed to upgrade our incoming power supply fuse.
We have used the money saved to upgrade the insulation in the loft with between rafter PIR board (very time consuming and messy job if you do it yourself) and are replacing our original windows with triple glazing along with a new uPVC back door. We have draft proofed the front door and capped our chimneys along with plugging the interior flue. Using a bio ethanol fire for occasional use as it does not emit the same fumes.
Added extra insulation to a 30 year extension roof space so hopefully we are saving now the cold weather is here.
ASHP is still a consideration but it will have to wait unfortunately. Hopefully the technology will improve and we will see cheaper running costs in the future.
Pinning hopes on a solar system using a EV car battery for storage when possible but for now we just need to be warm and not bankrupt ourselves.
I still check this forum for opinions and experiences in our efforts to become more eco friendly.
