Samsung Gen7 setup
@raiph. I have just had confirmation from Planet that their website statement applies to some, but not all manufacturers, so they are going to review the wording of their Home page. They agree that logically the two apps should work alongside each other, but as yet they do not know a customer who is doing so.
Been in contact with Planet devices - they have contacted my installer to see if they are interested. Similar thing with Homely - the cost of the MIM modbus board plus their Pi or microcontroller. So expect about £800 for the install. One thing I would say about Planet is that they offer more access for 'users' to the HP data. However:
When the ice throwing machine aka heat pump was installed I had a quick play with SmartThings. Not too impressed. Anyway noticed that they updated the App in DEc 2024. Looks like they added Energy and EHS Cloud. The Energy bit gives the daily/hourly/weekly and monthly energy useage and cost. I suppose it saves having to look at the data on the HP console. The other bit is interesting - EHS Cloud 'Enables installers to optimise and manage your EHS units performance'. Spoke to Samsung support - it was pulled before launch due to a few bugs ...
Should be released in the next few months. The problem will be accessing it as a user. May cost money. Back to the Energy bit. Login - Zone Current 34.5 degrees C. Select Heat pump 35 degrees. Heating Space 33 degrees, now 32. I'm watching it as I type. Select Schedule. You can then 'Add time block' at a Specific Water outlet temperature. Does this mean that it overides any Water Law setting for the time block? At the moment HavenWise are controlling the HP so I can't play with it. Could set multiple time blocks with differing Water Outlet temperatures ...
Another question. Wired Remote Controller internal thermostat. There was a mention in one of the Gen 6 posts that it can reduce the WO temperature as it nears the set point. True? If it is enabled then I assume that you can set a Zone schedule. True? At the moment HavenWise are controlling the WO - no option on the WRC to set a schedule.
OK - HavenWise - advantage uses the Samsung WiFi interface. Homely and Planet Devices both use the MIM-19 Modbus board. So could be an expensive option. I have noticed that Homely and Planet are aiming their products at installers. There seems to be a 'don't let the user fiddle with the system and give them as little information as possible' attitude amongst installers and HP manufacturers.
All i'm looking for is detailed information on what that dark grey box outside is actually doing. I don't want an installer to remotely monitor the system and fiddle with it. I'll fiddle with it.
Had a bright idea. Make the £7500 BUS grant dependant on installers monitoring the system for 12 months from installation... Poor system performance - let them fix it.
As for the Open Energy Monitoring stuff - again expensive. It doesn't tell you what the HP compressor is doing for example. As for Samsung - would be really nice if someone could explain what FSV 2091,2,3 actually do in plain English.
I just found this thread doing some research, so forgive me for such an outdated response!
I have documented all the FSV settings for Samsung ASHPs here : https://www.dwellsee.com/fsv-guide
Also, I have created dwellsee for monitoring and managing Samsung ASHPs for free - see https://www.dwellsee.com/about/
it allows you to see compressor speeds, flow rates, set schedules, and control things remotely. You don't need any extra hardware, as it's all done over the SmartThings API.
Please don't think thi is an advert for commercial software or anything, this is a completely free project designed to help people like myself, who just wanted a better way to to manage their heating!
