Just an observation 2 days on - the living area today didn't get above 16 degrees - so in 10 hours managed to increase by 1 degree.  The bedroom and bathroom area got up the temp on their individual controllers - now both 16.  I've attached a picture of the manifold at 11 in the morning for the living area

 It's always the living area that struggles to get to temp every day.  OK today it has snowed here and probably not got above 2 degrees all day - but this is the same for other days - often it is 18:00 and still showing 17 degrees when the target temp is 18 degrees.  Now it's not calling for heat as I don't have it going all night - and generally only will loose a degree overnight - I'll see how much loss tonight as it will be cold and it only managed to get up to 16.  Do you think this is to do with the manifold for the living area?

Did you remember to top up the pressure in your system? It looks rather low on the pressure gauge.

Does the water pump and/or heat pump stop operating when the bedrooms are up to temperature?

@derek-m I haven't topped up yet - I need a hand from my brother.  No the ASHP will still be trying to get the living area up to temperature so will be running - I do hear it go.  It's interesting because the bedroom and bathroom area get up to temp within a few hours - OK granted they don't have a staircase going up to the floor above like the living area does.

I would suggest that you get your system topped up and any air removed, then see what happens.

@derek-m topped up this morning (photo attached).  It is mild here today but at nearly 17:00, the living area is still on 15 (as it was at 08:00 when I looked this morning) - also the bathroom is still 15 - that always gets up to 16 temp during the day.  Yesterday I used the most I have for several weeks - 37 kwh - so far today 20.  OK yesterday we had snow - but it didn't go below minus - since I've been closely monitoring we've had days colder than yesterday and I didn't use as much.Do you think I should switch back to flow mode?

Looking at the temperature gauges in the photo's, it would appear that the water is going into the UFH at approximately 28C, and coming out at approximately 21C. I suspect that those temperatures are too low for the present weather conditions. What are the readings on the downstairs temperature gauges?

What is the speed setting of your water pump?

What are the settings of your Weather Compensation curve?

@derek-m I'll take a photo of the compensation curve that I did - any idea how I look at the speed setting of the pump?

I would suggest that you watch the following video, which details how to check and change the pump speed. Before making any changes I would also suggest that whilst you are in the service menu, go through each of the menu options and record temperatures and flow rate etc. Then you could try increasing the pump speed to see if you can get more flow to the upstairs UFH. What are the downstairs readings on the UFH temperature gauges?

@derek-m hi - I've looked at the this - pump speed is 5 (max) and flow rate is 13 litres.  I've looked at some of the other options - summary of settings (picture attached) - do you know what Hroom1 refers to?  I've had a look in the manual and cannot seem to see anything.  Do I also need to worry about the thermistor readings? (picture attached).  This is like a master class - thank you 🙂

FYI - the floor space is all on one level but with three separate zones and thermostat boxes

@sarah

I would expect the flow rate to be greater than 13 litres per minute at a pump speed of 5, is your water pump actually wired to the heat pump controller?

When you topped up your system, did you bleed out all the air and top up again afterwards?
