Method for monitoring ASHP usage/efficiency in real time?
Hi
I have an Mitsubishi Ecodan ASHP that was installed 4 years ago. The Ecodan controller shows energy consumed/delivered, but I need to go outside to an outbuilding (where the Ecodan and cylinder is located) to view this. Is there a free/cheap app/technology that I can view this information on my phone for example?

Unless you have a new version of the app that I haven’t seen, it won’t give real-time energy usage stats; only previous day and before. You can see current temperature, but not how the HP is performing to achieve that temp.

Mitsubishi Ecodan 8.5 kW air source heat pump
18 x 360W solar panels
1 x 6 kW GroWatt battery and SPH5000 inverter
1 x Myenergi Zappi
1 x VW ID3
Raised beds for home-grown veg and chickens for eggs

You can see the current day; just overwrite the dates. You can keep the report open and press the energy button to update it. Not quite real time but close. At least I can, this is today so far (it's going to be expensive!). I have MMSP monitoring though.
The MELcloud API gets more data than can be seen in their app, including energy consumption and heat movement with about 2 minutes delay. Third -party apps like my melcloud-mqtt-bridge can feed that to home automation dashboards like domoticz or HA.
Another option is to connect your own device to the cn105 connector which will see real time but I think then you can't also use melcloud. Or you can fit your own sensors. Many options.

Hmm, I dont, but Ive just Googled for it. Looks good, but do I need a seperate 'wifi controller' or is it already built in? (The Ecodan is about 4 years old, so quite modern)

you need one of these or similar.
I didn’t get MMSP installed with mine so unlikely to be worth fitting at this point. Does anyone know if you can hook up an electric meter pulse counter to the FTC5 without also hooking up the heat meter?
just so I know the electric consumption is accurate?
250sqm house. 30kWh Sunsynk/Pylontech battery system. 14kWp solar. Ecodan 14kW. BMW iX.

I think you'd have to hook it up to an electricity meter because the FTC doesn't pulse, as far as I know. Another option may be CT clamps on the supply lead. I've no experience with either but they're used by people on the open energy monitor forums.

This is how you hook up power and electricity meters. They are separate connections so I assume you can do one without the other. T
