How can we prevent our LG heat pump from freezing up in cold weather?
@paul_tanner which software version do you have on your controller? e.g. mine is 3.05.5a
It DOES have DHW scheduling.
With ToU tariff (I'm on IOG) ... I heat hot water at cheap rate at night to 50 deg.
During the day I use a top up schedule to just 40deg. We never run out. 40 deg still requires a little cold added!
As you may know the controller has a boost function from immersion and also the 40deg temp can be temp boosted from controller

Yes @Tim441 I have the same controller version.
It does allow boosting of hot water but (I checked the installer menu again and) there is no facility for automatically switching off DHW on cold nights. That's why I suggested an external solution.
Fortunately my external immersion controller (eddi) does have timers to take advantage of our ToU tariff.
Please let me know if I'm missing something.
I misunderstood your comment I think. It has a scheduler but it's on fixed days/times not according to outside temp.
It's a very strange issue as heat pumps are used successfully in far colder climates. So I'm inclined to think something is wrong with your setup.
Suggest you ask in
