@webcmg Hi, instructions are in the link at the bottom.

First you install HACS, then add the Vaillant Component repository. When adding the device, give it the internal IP address and username/password. It also prompts for the serial number but I don't think it matters.

Note: It says it doesn't work with Sensoapp however that's the smartphone App I use and it's fine for reading temperatures & electricity usage.

@colin getting there slowly... installed HACS. Installed the custom repository, but really can't see where I can add a device.  Appreciate you're not technical support, but any futher advice would be most welcome! Thanks.

@colin just found it in integrations. It is a steep learning curve!

@colin thank you for your help (again!). Not sure what I do now I have the sensors listed.  Assume they are now actively monitoring and I will be able to view on a graph somewhere, but that's for another day.  First need to get the SMETS2 smart meter connected.

@webcmg Well done! You've got the hardest part out the way in getting the sensors added for the custom integration. Now you'd create a new dashboard and add the sensors. Play around with it until you're happy you've picked the right ones. Example of mine below.

 Which SMETS2 monitor did you go with?

I have a Chameleon IHD7 and the meter is a WNC UBC-TN6, need to look at the available options... so basically not sure yet.

@colin I only seem to have total usage (Cooling, DHW, Heating with Total Kwh, Total Yield for each) of the Vaillant kit rather than real time usage, am I missing something?

@webcmg. Here's what I see for my Vaillant devices and sensors (excluding the my Vaillant Ambisense TRVs). From the Vaillant sensors, I monitor Cylinder Temp, Flow temp, kWh for DHW and kWh for Heating.

Hi @colin, challenges continue. Please can you post your DHW usage and yield charts for Aug/Sept/Oct from the Vaillant app? The DHW annual usage/yield charts would also be helpful. Thanks. Chris

Useful data that shows the difference in efficiency and the effect of running the legionalla cycle.

If you don't already have it, have you considered solar thermal or solar PV with a power diverter to reduce the need for your heat pump during Spring through to Autumn, and also to help perform the legionella cycle?

@derek-m Yes Derek, we're doing our research around PV & Battery storage but there's no pressing urgency right now as we're on Octopus Go Faster until Sept 2023 and so heating the water tank while it's cheapest at 5.5p/unit 😀

Thanks @coln. Will compare to mine when I have a minute. Has your system been setup using glycol or antifreeze valves? I heard glycol reduces efficiency from a plumber who publishes on YouTube.

@webcmg We've got Glycol and the valves.

@colin

I find it strange that you would have both glycol and dump valves installed.
