What is the best air source heat pump setup?
I've had a HP as part on a house renovation 2 years ago. ( full spec in attached pic ) this winter season I've Been playing around with the setting but never really found the sweet spot snd also a few bits baffle me . Be great to hear your views. It's a simple ASHP to underfloor system.
1st up it doesn't matter what heat setting I have it on ( target flow temp or compensation) the floor temp struggles to get past 35/ 36 max regardless of the outside temp. I'd like it to race up 40 plus or say 45. What would be limiting this ? I can get it up to 40 but I have to lower the flow rate to 8lpm. This however creates a return temp of 28 hence a over gap of 12 or higher which I believe is " wrong "
Next up.for the Heat pump spec ( pic attached) is there a maximum Litre per minute flow rate I can use before causing damage ? Is there such a thing ? I ask as its currently at 15 but easily go higher.
Looking at the set up you can see a pressure value on the right of the manifold. The setting on thus seems irrelevant as it appears to be fitted upside down and hence always open . The pipe between the flow and return get hot. Is this an issue ?
The temperature readings on flow and return on the manifold seem very different to what is displayed on the FTC5 controller. I'm not sure which ones to use for delta t ?
Any help would be great . Thank you
Paul
Hi Paul, Im no expert but I think I had the same ASHP and an UFH system which I installed in my old house. First up you have a 5kW ecodan? The room in the picture looks large, were proper heat loss calculations done and if so what was the expected heat loss? The reason I ask is that it would seem a limiting factor if the ASHP was undersized? Just to check as well that you dont have a mixer valve on the UFH as this would blend the temperature down. I took mine out when I realised. Hope that is of some help.
