Hello all, I am wanting to learn about new build properties and things like where windows should not face, like into existing neighbours habitable rooms and any other things of use. Helping a sibling understand a new small development being built behind her and have no clue myself. Any people here know, you are after all a knowledgeable bunch. This is all early days so no plans drawn yet, all precautionary and a subject I thought might be useful to learn more about.

Hi Phil,

Not an expert myself, though you could try looking at the NHBC Technical Standards website which may be of use.

I put a whole second floor on my bungalow. Generally there are no issues that they should worry about. On being overlooked, if the windows are on the side of the house most planners will specify that they be opaque.

The first stop for you should be the local council planning portal and looking up the application - if its already been approved any conditions would be noted on the permission
