Just noticed Fogstar have a new upright solution (coming soon).  Given that it's Grade A cells, battery heater,  cell balancer and 8yr warranty at £2500 incl VAT, is there much point DIYing with a Seplos anymore (at least for single bank solutions)?

I went for the upright seplos, mainly because they couldn’t tell me when these were coming in, and I’ve got two failing cells in my DIY pack. Need something asap.

Seplos should be here before Xmas.

Off grid on the isle of purbeck
2.4kW solar, 15kWh Seplos Mason, Outback power systems 3kW inverter/charger, solid fuel heating with air/air for shoulder months, 10 acres of heathland/woods.

My wife’s house: 1946 3 bed end of terrace in Somerset, ASHP with rads + UFH, triple glazed, retrofit IWI in troublesome rooms, small rear extension.

I have went for and purchased this around Xmas.

Delivery has been confirmed for next week, looking forward to it arriving.

Regarding inverter and accessories - I purchased nothing as wanted to ensure it would arrive.

Anyone have a Inverter that works with Fogstar already? No solar @ my property..

Considering a Synsynk 5.5kW to run a house and a 10kW Aerona Heat Pump.

Any suggestions welcome.

@ggw congrats. Really looking to hear how it performs. Will you be installing it yourself?

Also, would love it of you considered reviewing it for the main site. Please let me know.

@misterb

Good to hear, Will likely purchase the Sunsynk this weekend - after a little research.

What is you opinion on the app and the feedback/info it provides?

@ggw it works .... It does most if what I need but not sure how it would work for a 'geek' - I only wish it had a way to display the actual production from solar via the aux gen. I'm not really an app person but it seems ok. Really pleased with the Sunsynk inverter though, should have got an 8kw though ...but it doesn't affect what I get out of it!

PS I really like the new battery but I already had one Seplos so decided to get another to avoid potential conflicts. The new battery looks brilliant !

@misterb why a 8kW one, what is your thinking - if you could expand a little

It's purely related to charging time periods. With 28.6kw of batteries, 6 hours on Intelligent Octopus will work, but any more batteries and it wouldn't. I won't charge or discharge fully so that gives me wriggle room, I can eat through 20+ KW each day in the winter, so if I increase battery storage, I might not be able to charge it overnight at 5kw per hour charging rate. An 8kw inverter would have just given me the opportunity to increase capacity.....

@misterb good info, I see your viewpoint not

I purchased the sunsynk 5kW - matches my use case and it's as much as I want to spend.

Now for accessories required-

This is the current list:

M8 eyelet battery cable +/- +lugs

DC Isolator (battery internally has MCB)

6mm2 cable for AC input

AC isolator

AC RCD ? (Unsure if required)

Comms Cable for BMS

Anything else?
