I’ve been looking at the Sunamp heat battery which uses phase change materials to heat water at from the cold water inlet to provide instant hot water without the need to store the hot water. I wonder if anyone has experience of the Sunamp ? Its a Scottish Edinburgh based company and the seems to be efficient compared to just heating water up in a hot water tank all the time.
I've been following Sunamp for a while and they are getting some rave reviews and recommendations from installers. Would be interesting to hear if anyone here has installed one and what it's like from a homeowner's perspective.

@editor I think if it works as I think it will work then it really is a hugely efficient way to heat water and give you that heated water at source rather than just heating it and then keeping it hot over an extended period until the demand for water is needed. I think with excess solar power going into it then it should be very effective. I like the idea that it has a long lifetime and replaces my need to use my oil boiler to heat up water. Using a cheap electric tariff overnight to recharge the batteries and the Sunamp sound ideal! and i can do away with the vented pipes and water containers etc in the loft.
forgot to mention their based in Edinburgh and I probably have some contacts that might know them so maybe I try and get them to do an interview and explain their tech further ?
@boblochinver, that would be great. Please let me know how you get along, and we'd be happy to interview them.
