Warmflow ASHP costing a fortune to run and ignored by installer
Hi everyone. I’ve just recently had warmflow ashp fitted and the installer has been ignoring me ever since. It is supposed to run 24/7 but turns off everyday and I assume costs more to restart. I cannot afford extortionate bills, it’s has been 3 weeks and my usage has been over 1500 kWh!! Before heat pump installed I averaged max 100 kWh per month. I am a single woman and have no idea what to do I don’t even have a user manual and as I say I’m being ignored by installer.
Hi @myanthony and welcome and sorry to hear of your woes. A few details about your house and system would help. House size and type, ASHP model, radiators or ufh, etc. Also, is your house rented or owned?
There are some Warmflow manuals in the link below near the bottom.

Thanks for reply Kev.
House is owned by ex it’s 4 bed old sandstone Cottage built around 1900. No underfloor heating have separate emersor to heat water. Radiators are all old fashioned style column/4 fin, 8 years old. ASHP I s Warmflow AS03-R32. I had a look through manual last night but can find solution to it turning off.
Thank you
The Warmflow AS03-R32 is a 20kW rated unit, it's quite a beast. Let's assume that it's running those rads at a fixed temperature of 50 degrees, close to it's maximum of 55 degrees, then the COP and rated output are as follows:
From the manual, which I attach, @myanthony will need to access the weather compensation curve on page 27 and show us a photo of what the curve is set to.
To the OP, what did this new ASHP replace?
Off grid on the isle of purbeck
2.4kW solar, 15kWh Seplos Mason, Outback power systems 3kW inverter/charger, solid fuel heating with air/air for shoulder months, 10 acres of heathland/woods.
My wife’s house: 1946 3 bed end of terrace in Somerset, ASHP with rads + UFH, triple glazed, retrofit IWI in troublesome rooms, small rear extension.
@myanthony, about 70kWh per day is easily possible with an old house. As @oswiu asks, do you have any heat loss calculations? The ASHP you have is a big one and suggests a relatively high heat loss. Also are the radiators properly hot or just warm?
There is definitely a timer function on your controls. Is there any chance this is set to switch the ASHP on and off?
Remember this last few days is about the worst it will get.
OK, so you've replaced a pellet boiler which was probably around 24-30kW, and would have been batch fired into a large thermal store or buffer tank. The heating circuit would have been run off this on a time clock and room thermostats.
The ASHP works differently whereby it should be ON all the time and the weather compensation should have been set to control the indoor temperature.
So you've got nothing that looks like page 27 of the manual?

Yes I know that it should run all the time that’s why I’m in forum as it keeps turning off and engineer isn’t answering calls! I can’t find weather compensation only thing that’s similar looking is

Do you have a settings icon, bottom right of the home screen?
EDIT: The temperature graph is encouraging, it shows the defrost cycles aren't too bad and the unit isn't short cycling. It also shows the deltaT on flow and return to be a sensible value.

Ok that’s good. I thought it must be short cycling. Yes there is settings icon.
