Swimming pool ASHP used for UFH?
is it actually possible/viable to feed two circuits from a swimming pool ASHP - around 40sqm of floor, without over complicating things by adding buffers, heat stores or even heating hot water cylinder?

Since a heat pump is merely a device for producing thermal energy, I don't see any problem on the face of it. Obviously it would only work effectively if the heat pump is of adequate capacity to supply both loads.
@derek-m that's what I was thinking, so long as I don't over complicate matters, it's just a water heater using air to heat the water, which is then circulated via a pump. It would be used to to supplement an A2A 2.5kw heater, which just needs a boost every now and again, usually provides by a diesel heater.

I did look at swimming pool heat pumps some time ago, since like A2A heat pumps, they are much cheaper, probably because they don't qualify for the government bribe, sorry grant.
You may need to confirm that the internals can cope with an anti-freeze mixture or install auto drain valves for freeze protection.
i wasnt looking to get a grant to be honest, BUT if i could get it MCiS certified, I could go onto the Octopus heat pump tariff and due to my battery storage, i could shift ALL my energy pricing to off peak.
i know that Octopus stated last year that they wouldnt require MCiS certification for PV systems, i wonder if they will adopt the same criteria for heat pumps?
It's an interesting question about whether Octopus Energy will apply the same criteria for heat pumps as they did for PV systems when it comes to MCiS certification. They haven't made any official announcements yet, but I’ll keep an eye out for updates/@announcements.

although i am still keen at some point to explore a swimming pool heat pump to heat up the small amount of UHF that we have, we have just purchased a new to us (second hand LOL) mitsubishi outlander PHEV - so we will be on the EV tariff of 7.5p per kilowatt soon for 5 hours. i have also purchased an additional 14.3 kw of storage battery, just waiting to get the time to top balance and assemble it!
Swimming pool heat pumps often lack the reversing valve to do a defrost…. Mine certainly does.
you’d be much better off using a mini split, gutting the indoor unit so the fan and flap motor, and remote control receiver still work, then feed a plate heat exchanger in place of the indoor head
Off grid on the isle of purbeck
2.4kW solar, 15kWh Seplos Mason, Outback power systems 3kW inverter/charger, solid fuel heating with air/air for shoulder months, 10 acres of heathland/woods.
My wife’s house: 1946 3 bed end of terrace in Somerset, ASHP with rads + UFH, triple glazed, retrofit IWI in troublesome rooms, small rear extension.
