Hello everyone.

We've been looking to install an ASHP, but, from looking at all the different companies, all the ASHP seems to be in 'landscape' rather than 'portrait' orientation - meaning that they are wider than they are high, and takes up more space on the ground.

Does anyone know if anyone does any ASHP where the pump is stacked, with the fan underneath/above the system, to make a smaller footprint at all?

We're pretty low on space for where we can actually install the unit in the back yard, and we're pretty keen on getting one (already ok'ed with planning), so we're just trying to figure out which best units might help us here.

Many thanks!

Hello everyone!

This is amazing - thank you! I hadn't come across any of these in my search, so it's fantastic to see that there is indeed options. @witchcraft - you haven't got a photo of your Valiant have you? That was a brand of ASHP that I was looking into, and really liked their systems.

@batalto, we interviewed Graham Hendra today and he says that the RED ASHPs are arguably the best heat pumps on the market, but they come with a hefty price tag.

@glanmenai, it never even occurred to me that form factor of heat pumps could be an important factor in the decision making process, which makes perfect sense. Great question.

good points all, the older way of doing heat pumps was one fan above the other in the tombstone layout or portrait , but this year the trend is to go for short fat single fan units in the landscape layout. Everyone is doing it. Mitsubishi, Vaillant, Daikin, Midea etc and the rest will follow. RED (i love these units so much, i should i am Mr RED, I have one at home) is completely different, they look like a darlek or a compost bin but they are tall so if you want it under a window this might not help.

@grahamh Googled RED.  The whole system looks good.

@Morgan, the RED systems look really great. I actually like their styling a lot.

@grahamh, you mentioned that these heat pumps are pricier than others on the market. What kind of price difference are we talking about?
